The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and public petition has directed the management of the National upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission to provide documents backing their decision to revoke and reallocate the Atala Marginal Oil Field (OML 46).The Committee demanded for the documents when the Regulatory Commission appeared before it to defend a petition.

Its officials are at the senate to answer questions about the circumstances surrounding the alleged revocation and reallocation of the Atala marginal Oil Field owned by the trio of Bayelsa Oil Company Limited, Hardy Oil Nigeria Limited, and Century Exploration and Production Limited.
The senate is querying the regulatory commission for what it considers a wrongful transfer of ownership to Halkin Exploration and Production company limited.
It demands that they provide a written directive from President Muhammadu Buhari, authorizing the allocation of the Oil field to Halkin E&P.
