The Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road was constructed in 1978.
Years after, the road became impassable.
In 2006, there was a major intervention on the road which later failed.
Some repairs were also carried out on the road about four years ago to make it motorable.
Despite all these, the desired result was not achieved and the condition of the road became a source of worry to both the Government and the road users.
Recently, Governments of Oyo and Osun States awarded the road for reconstruction and it’s now time for the flagg-off.
The Contractor handling the project assured of quality job and timely completion.
The road which commences at the rotary intersections connecting it with the Lagos-Ibadan on Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo and Ibadan-Oyo Highways, was inherited by the two states at the creation of Osun from old Oyo State in the year 1991.
To the Osun State Governor, it’s in fulfilment of his campaign promise.
Governor Seyi Makinde says LAUTECH joint ownership would not have been resolved but for the maturity of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
55 kilometres of road falls in Osun State while 35 kilometres falls in Oyo state.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Osogbo, Governor Oyetola said his administration considered the road project as of utmost importance, noting that the award of the reconstruction of the road further demonstrates his government’s commitment to the infrastructural development of the State and wellbeing of the citizenry.
