The Police has presented cheques worth Thirty Four Million, Five Hundred and Ninety Seven Thousand, One Hundred and Forty Three Naira, (N34, 597, 143. 49) to Ten families of deceased officers including a serving corporal who sustained injury during clash with armed Bandits
The Injured personnel Sani Sagir is serving in Gummi Division of the Nigerian Police Force in Zamfara
The Cheques is in continuation of the Inspector General of Police Group life welfare Insurance and Personnel Accident Scheme
It is aimed at assisting those who died in active Service and those who sustained injury during operations
Presenting the cheques to the next of kin of the deceased, the Zamfara State Commissioner of police Kolo Yusuf applaud the efforts of the police authorities for giving due attention to the welfare of Police officers and those who died in active Service
The Zamfara Police boss described the gesture as timely adding that it will go along way in alleviating suffering being faced by families of deceased officers and equally boost the morale of the serving personnel
He further noted that the gesture will encourage personnel to put in their best in the ongoing campaign against activities of criminal elements and the Insecurity bedevilling different parts of the country
Kolo Yusuf tasked the beneficiaries to make good use of the Money
Some of the beneficiaries, Charles Mark Jatau and Zainab Zubairu, who spoke on behalf of other Next of Kins thanked the Police for the gesture and promised to use the money judiciously.
This is the eleventh time in one year Zamfara State Command is receiving similar gesture from the IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
The Zamfara Command of the NPF has lost more men to the activities of bandits/Terrorists with the latest being a personnel shot dead at an outpost in Mada earlier this week.
The State has been in the throes of insecurity due to the activities of bandits/Terrorist and Other criminal elements.
