Police in Zamfara has again secured the unconditional release of twenty seven Kidnap Victims in three bandit camps of Gando, Bagega and Sunke forests in Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government areas.
The Victims who are natives of Akawa, Gwashi, Tungar Rogo and Anka Villages include two women and eight Children within the ages of ten and fifteen
They were abducted by armed bandits who invaded their Communities and unleashed mayhem on the Residents
Unspecified number of Persons according to the police were abducted and taken to an unknown destination
Addressing pokesperson of the Zamfara police command Mohammed Shehu says, on receiving the Information, CP Kolo Yusuf ordered the deployment of additional troops in Collaboration with some members of the local Vigilante stormed the forest and rescue the Kidnap Victims Unhurt
“In continuation of its effort to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State, the Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf has once again recorded another landmark achievement regarding the unconditional rescue of twenty seven victims who were abducted by a group in and taken to bandits camps at Gando/Bagega and Sunke forests forests in Bukkuyum and Anka LGA respectively” he said
“The rescue of the victims was sequel to the report received by the Command that, group of bandits terrorist invaded the above mentioned villages and abducted unspecified number of people and took them to Gando/Bagega/ Sunke forests where they spent a week in captivity” The Zamfara PPRO added.
“On receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police deployed additional Police Tactical operatives to reinforce DPOs Anka/Bukkuyum and vigilante in their rescue operation to rescue the abducted victims. Luckily enough, a well coordinated search and rescue operation was carried out with the full support and partnership of the two LGAs Sole Administrators of Anka and Bukkuyum . The outcome of the rescue operation was the unconditional rescue of Twenty seven kidnapped victims” the police said.
Mohamed Shehu adds that seventeen of the Victims are in good health condition after being debriefed while the remaining ten are currently receiving medical attention in a health facility
“At the moment, seventeen out of twenty seven were brought to the Police Command Headquarters, while the other ten victims are in the hospital receiving medical attention following the trauma they passed through while in captivity” Shehu Said
“All the victims have been debriefed by the Police detectives and the Commissioner of Police and will formally be handed over to Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs who will on behalf of the Governor Bello Matawalle reunite them with their families”
Responding on behalf of the Zamfara State Government, the Commissioner for Security and Home affairs DIG. Mamman Tsafe Rtd. Commend the office of the police and local vigilante for the safe rescue of the Kidnap Victims
He says Governor Bello Matawalle is committed to assisting all security agencies in Tackling the menace of Insecurity in the state
Mammy Tsafe further congratulate the Victims for their release and charge them to brace up and accept the incident as it comes, noting that insecurity in Zamfara will soon be a thing of the past.
It has been a week of harvest for the Zamfara police command ranging from arrest of armed bandits, Collaborators, recovery of deadly weapons, charms and rescue of kidnap Victims
Communities in the state have continued to suffer the brunt of banditry and Kidnapping for saveral years and this has affected farming and socioeconomic activities in the state
The latest rescue of twenty kidnap Victims is coming less than twenty four hours after the police has secured the unconditional release of one year old baby his mother and nine other women from Bandits Den in the same location Government
Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government areas are located in the western part of the state and has become the hotbed of Banditry and Kidnapping in the last few months as many were killed, some abducted and rescued while others are still in the hands of their Captors
But, the police insist it is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure all Victims in Captivity are rescued unhurt.
“The Zamfara Commissioner of Police Kolo Yusuf Commended the high level Commitment to Security by Governor Bello Matawalle and his support and encouragement to the Police and other security Agencies in their effort to rid the state of criminal activities”
“The Police will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that criminal elements are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law” the police assures.
