Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe said the tanker was mounting the Ilo Awele slope, next to the Abeokuta-Lagos portion of the road, when it fell around 1:30 am, spilt its contents, and burst into flames
She added that three persons who were seriously injured have been taken to a general hospital while the remains of the victims have been evacuated.
“Men of the fire service were contacted immediately and the area was cordoned-off to prevent a secondary crash,” Okpe said.
“The suspected cause of the multiple crash was mechanical deficiency. While ascending, the vehicle rolled back and got hooked. The content spilled off and there was fire outbreak.”
