Election season is here and the narratives are building up around candidates, political parties and issues surrounding it.
To ensure a peaceful conduct of the election, the Nigerian police force is taking a step further to train its Personnel on how to ensure a peaceful election.
The workshop organised by the governor is designed to also deepen the implementation of the community policing model adopted by the federal government in 2020.
Representative of the Inspector General of Police, Zanna Ibrahim said public trust, consent and partnership are historically the
foundations upon which effective policing rests and these are the principles that drive the community policing approach.
He added that the community policing strategy as approved by the federal government is gradually taking roots in Nigeria and is being warmly embraced by most strategic partners, the Nigerian people.
The State Governor, Babagana Zulum was represented at the occasion represented by the secretary to the state government, Usman Shuwa.
Mr Shuwa noted that the state government on its part has been mobilising traditional rulers, opinion and religious leaders to be actively involved in the security of their domain.
Stakeholders at the meeting observed that community policing is the best strategy to address complex and emerging internal security challenges.
The meeting called on security operatives not to align themselves with any political party throughout the electioneering process as security is for all.
