The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has promised to support the creative sector with necessary incentives if elected as president in the 2023 general election.
Atiku who made the commitment in Lagos, during a roundtable discussion with stakeholders in Nigeria’s creative, cultural and innovative industry, said no government can afford to ignore such a vital industry that has contributed in no small way to the development of the country.

During the meeting, the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar says the creative industry has what it takes to crash the unemployment rate and generate huge revenue for the country if the necessary support is given.
With that in mind, the former vice president pledged to create an enabling environment for players in the industry by providing proper funding, training and capacity development.
While saying that he understands the challenges in the industry because he owns radio and television outfits, Mr. Abubakar called for collaboration with stakeholders on how to address identified loopholes in the sector.
He commended members for their patriotism which he noted had provided jobs and contribute to the economy despite the many challenges and lack of sufficient support for them.
At the end, he noted that government alone can’t provide the funding needed to grow the sector, the former vice president however promised to collaborate with the private sector to grow the creative industry.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was Vice President under the Presidency of former Military Head of State, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has been on a quest to become the President of Nigeria since 1993.
He was a Presidential Aspirant under the defunct Social Democratic Party but lost out to Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who later won the June 12 Presidential Election which was later annulled.
He also contested for the Presidency under the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria and has been an aspirant since then.
He was also the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019.
