The District head of Kwangwami in MorikHei Emirate, Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State has been abducted by bandits alongside an Unspecified number of farmers
They were abducted Monday morning while working on a farmland at about eleven O’Clock
Sources told TVC NEWS that the Gunmen stormed the farm on motorcycles with sophisticated weapons and whisked the traditional ruler and others farmers
The Gunmen according to our source are yet to reachout to the emirate and families of the Victims
Efforts to speak to police authorities prove abortive as saveral calls put across to the Image maker of the Command Superintendent Mohammed Shehu were not answered
Zurmi among other Local Government areas in Zamfara have Continued to suffered the brunt of banditry and Kidnapping for over thirteen years despite efforts by Government and security agencies to restore peace in all Troubled Communities.
Bandits have wrecked havoc in Zamfara State over the last few years making many parts of the State ungovernable for the State Government.
Banditry in the state precedes the Governor Bello Matawalle in Zamfara State, he has made several efforts including the initiation of an amnesty programme, Cash for Guns and a moratorium on attacks by Security agents on Bandits in return for cessation of hostilities by bandits and Other Criminal elements.
Measures also put in place by Security agents to address the situation including the launch of Special Military and Security Operations like Operation Hadarin Daji, Puff Adder and even Airstrikes by the Nigerian Airforce has not succeeded in halting their reign of terror and violence.
Bandits in Zamfara State were reputed to the ones who shot down a Nigerian Airforce Alpha Jet earlier in the year.
The Pilot of the Plane was later rescued but it was an indication of how powerful some of the groups have become.
This latest attack has shown that the Bandits are rebounding like they have done over the past few years despite a sustained Military campaign to degrade their ability to attack and terrorise residents of the State.
