“We have stated that we will build on the legacies of the current administration, and we recognize that there have been some areas where we have had issues as an administration. However, there have been many areas where this government has recorded a lot of success and gains.
“Hopefully as an incoming administration, we’re not going to throw that away. We’re going to consolidate on those gaines and try to come up with measures that would address effectively areas where we’ve had challenges and that is what we have done in the manifesto that was released recently by our principal Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.
In terms of the administration’s plan on poverty reduction and job creation, the Deputy Director, Directorate of Public Affairs, said the Buhari has done more than any other administration in this fourth Republic to lift as many Nigerians out of poverty as possible
According to her, Buhari administration came in with the innovative idea of having a social investment program, that provided conditional cash transfers, a social investment program that came out with a program, cheap program, that gives money to trader money and farmer money.
“A social investment program that was able to give school children.
Mrs Musawa added that the Buhari administration has done a lot in reaching out to the most vulnerable in the society, and It would be very unjust for us, for the Nigerian public, especially those that these programs have been able to touch, to come in as a government and try to swipe that away.
“I would urge that the PDP would embrace these initiatives that the present administration has taken, because in the 16 years that the PDP was in power, not once did they come up with any program that was catered to try to lift as many Nigerians out of poverty as much as possible.
“We have an administration that has come in and brought in a very innovative idea whereby we were able to touch some of the poorest, of the poor in the society.
“The administration has not been able to lift as many Nigerians out of poverty as necessary, but we have been able to touch very, very poor people that in the past have been completely ignored by the government, and I think the PDP government should embrace that.
“And should some miracle happen and the PDP was to emerge, I would urge that they would be able to cater to those programs.
“Government is a continuing, I find it very irresponsible for any campaign to come out and speak about trying to swipe aside any programs that have recorded gains for the Nigerian people.
“As an administration coming in and taking over government. Which is supposed to be a continuum. We certainly are going to continue. Not only continue with the social investment program that has already been put in place. But we’re going to even build on that and bring new programs to try to lift more Nigerians out of poverty and to try to introduce even more programs that will be able to touch other areas that Nigerians are very vulnerable.
