The Chief Of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo has restated the importance of education to national development as it has direct relationship with unemployment and insecurity in Nigeria.
The naval boss stated this during the lecture series of the maiden convocation ceremony of the Admiralty University of Nigeria
According to the Navy Boss, for Nigeria and Africa to develop, more attention should be given to education especially the tertiary education and institutions in the country
citing great leaders in Africa, he stated that for there to be any meaningful development especially with fourth industrial revolution in the west, educating the citizens must be fully implemented
The highpoint of the lecture was the conferment of honorary degree on Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo.
He was also inducted as the first Chancellor of the Admiralty University of Nigeria, Delta State.
Education is a key part of the Nigerian Navy’s day to day operation with it being placed at the Centre point of Operation.
Education is a key part of any Navy’s day to day operation and the Nigerian Navy will not be an exception to this trend and having taken advantage of the Strategic Partnership between the Navy and some Educational Institutions especially at the Tertiary Level across Nigeria will now aim to take the Education of its Officers and Ratings to the next level as obtained in Other parts of the World.
The Navy’s decision to go ahead with the Start of its Admiralty University may also be a tacit acknowledgement of the disruption the constant break due to Industrial Action has done to the training of its Personnel.
Public Universities in Nigeria just resumed Academic activities after an 8 Month hiatus occasioned by an Industrial Action over conditions of Service, Better funding for the Institutions and Other matters.
The resumption has also not been without its controversies.
