A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has affirmed Uba Sani as the standard bearer of the All Progressive Congress Kaduna state governorship for the 2023 election.
A governorship Aspirant, Sani Sha’aban, had gone to court, seeking nullification of Uba Sani as Kaduna APC governorship candidate for alleged irregularities in the conduct of primary election in May.
However, delivering the judgement, the presiding Judge, Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the case for contravention of provision of the National Judicial Council policy direction.
The court according to the ruling declined in hearing the suit saying it has no jurisdiction to deliver judgement on the said matter.
It added that it’s a party affair and not a post or pre-election matter.
Senator Uba Sani had emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State in a keenly contested Governorship primaries.
One of the aspirants who was dissatisfied with the outcome, Sani Sha’aban, approached the court seeking the nullification of the primaries citing irregularities in the conduct.
This is similar to what happened in the lead up to the 2019 election in Kaduna State where the ruling All Progressives Congress was split with the State Governor, Nasir El Rufai, on one end and his supporters with Senator Sheu Sani, Uthman Hunkuyi and Others on the Other.
The party has lurched from one challenge to the Other since then despite the victory of the governor, Nasir El Rufai in the Election.
This latest Court case and its dismissal is an indication that all is still not well with the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State despite the best efforts of the Governor and Other Stakeholders within the party.
The coming days will show what the future holds for the party in the State with the intensity of the campaigns for both the Federal and State Elections expected to be ramped up soon.
