Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday held a valedictory plenary sitting in honour of late Speaker, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye.
In attendance are; Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Monisade Christianah Afuye, top government officials and other dignitaries.
Speaker Afuye died on October 19 following a cardiac arrest. He was 66 years old.
The Chief Press secretary to the state governor who confirmed his death in a statement. “Rt. Hon Afuye died Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.”
Afuye, seasoned politician and a two term member of the house, represents Ikere Constituency 2 at the State House of Assembly.
He had served as Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation in the greater part of the Dr Kayode Fayemi’s first term administration
