Some youths in the oil-rich Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State have protested against nomination of a non-indigene of an oil producing community, as the Executive Director of Projects on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
They took their protest to the NDDC office in the community, forcing workers to leave their offices.
Carrying placards with various inscriptions, they said the nomination is against the act that establishes NDDC.
The group, under the auspices of Ilaje Youths Congress, staged the protest at Igbokoda to voice their anger against the nomination.
Marching through the streets of Igbokoda, the council headquarters, these aggrieved youths want an indigene of the area to be considered for the plum job.
They described the issue as a slap on people of the oil producing community.
