The Loss of the Democratic Party of Control of the United States House is a major blow for President Joe Biden.
Public Affairs analyst, Achike Chude, made this declaration while reacting to the result from the United States Midterm Elections.
He added that the decision by the current Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, to step down from her position and further consideration for Leadership position means the Democrats will find it hard to be a cohesive force in the House until another equally Strong and unifying figure emerges.
He posited that the Republicans having made a declaration to investigate President Joe Biden’s Son, Hunter Biden, for Corruption means the next few months will be rocky for the President who according to him is the ultimate target of the Republican party.
According to him the Republicans are now in a very good position to stall some of the policy drive of President Joe Biden.
The only good thing from the Midterm for the Democrats is the narrow control over the Senate and the absence of the red wave many had predicted before the election.

“Yeah, well Her stepping down. I think it’s quite a big thing. It was expected. In fact, the questions were being asked before now how long she was going to remain. Of course, age is a factor and is not exactly on her side. And in 2020, after the elections, some people when they also won both houses of Congress and the House of Representatives, a few people tried to make a play.
The younger generation tried to make a play for the speakership of the House. But obviously she battered them down easily because she was that powerful. She had amassed a lot of influence over the years and had a way of whipping everybody into a line. It’s an era really. It’s a defining era that is being opened up, a new set of leadership, democratic leadership in the House, so that is a leadership that also has to find a way to do things to have its own identity.
Because Nancy Pelosi was able to stamp her identity really not just in Congress, but in American elections, in America generally. Of course, you know that this is a period of the culture wars where both sides have taken have dug in in terms of the cultural issues that are determining a lot of things in the United States and then of course, at the level of economic issues also.
So it is going to be a tough ask to follow because when somebody has left such an indelible mark and made such a serious mark in her endeavors, in her engagement, it becomes very difficult for somebody to fill in her shoes.
And so this is a new era for the Democrats, especially in the Congress. But if we need somebody that is equally as tough and as farsighted who also has a way, there’s a lot of influence over the members to be able to have the loyalty of members because that loyalty has to be earned. It’s not something that is not automatic. She earned that loyalty and was able to lead the Democrats effectively and her role is now up for play.
Yes, obviously I think Biden himself knows it. He said he was trying to work with both sides. He had also said some people were asking him are you going to do anything differently? He said no. And the reason why he said no was that the Republicans did not get the exact same victory that everybody had anticipated. In fact there was talk about a red wave which eventually did not happen. So they lost the Senate because even if the runoff in Georgia, even if it is won by a Shawn Walker against Warnock, they are still going to have the deciding vote which possessed or is reposed in the Vice President. Kamala Harris so the Senate is still firmly under the control you do narrowly, narrowly under the control of the Democrats.
But where they are going to have issues is with the Republicans in the House. The House they do not make the kind of gain that they want but what is important is that they have the majority and with that majority they could constitute an obstacle to Biden, some of the policies that he would want to enact.
If they do not agree with it, obviously it is dead on arrival. And besides that, Hunter Biden is already having problems right now because immediately it was known that they had won the majority in the House of Representatives.
The Republicans have issued a notice that they are going to probe Hunter Biden. But that probe goes beyond Hunter Biden. Joe Biden is the target. There are allegations that the son corruptly enriched himself and that Joe Biden was also involved in the corruption. So it is of course going to be something that is of worry to the president and that might in a way be an obstacle in his ability to move on with some of the agenda he would want to have”.
