The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has expelled the party’s governorship candidate, Jimi Lawal, for allegedly conducting and participating in a “illegal” governorship primary election and failing to honor the invitation of the party’s disciplinary committee.
He was suspended along with four others, including the state party’s financial secretary, Bola Odunmosun, Fasiu Ajadi, Kola Akinyemi, and the party chairman of Ijebu Northeast local government area, Tope Ashiru.

While reading out the decision of the committee, a chieftain of the party Tola Odulaja said, Jimi lawal has been expelled from the party but Bola Odumosu is on suspension till the expiration of his tenure as a state officer of PDP in the state.
Odulaja said that the committee in the spirit of fair hearing and justice, invited the affected members to appear before it, over alleged falsification of party’s documents and forgery.
In a press release, Austin Iniyokor, the project coordinator for the Jimi Adebisi Lawal Campaign Organization, described the party’s decision as “comical acts,” noting that the case is already before the court and that a hearing date of November 30, 2022, has been set.
