The Ondo State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun Corps have arrested 100 suspects, through the inter-boundary operation between Ondo and Osun States, tagged Operation “Gbale Gbako”.
The state commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye said the operation is designed to ensure that travellers are safe during the Yuletide
The parade of the suspects comes a few days after the flag-off of the Operation Gbale Gbako by Ondo and Osun Commands of the Amotekun Corps.
One hundred suspects have been arrested during the operation by operatives between the two commands.
While parading some of the arrested suspects before journalists in Akure, the State Commander of Ondo Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects were arrested for various offences, such as kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalism of public utilities among others.
The Ondo Amotekun Commander said the command will continue to operate in synergy with other security agencies to make the state unsafe for criminals.
Also paraded by the Ondo Amotekun Corps is this 16-year-old-boy, Precious Epeboboye, who was arrested for allegedly raping his brother’s wife.
The boy, who is believed to be a serial rapist, raped the victim at a farm settlement in the Ondo West Local Government Area of the state.
The Amotekun Commander said the suspects will be charged to court, as he reiterated the command’s commitment to providing adequate security for people of the state, before, during and after the Yuletide.
The Ondo State Security Network popularly known as Amotekun has been a very effective force in the fight against criminality in the State since inception and has also been a strong force in the advocacy by the South West Governors for the establishment of a regional Security outfit.
It has also helped in catalysing the establishment of the South East Security outfit known as Ebubeagu while also serving as a strong point for the advocates of State Police.
