The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service has sealed 6 business outlets across the state for non-payment of land use charge.
The outlets were sealed, following a court order, obtained to that effect by officials of the revenue service.
This is another enforcement exercise by officials of Ondo State Internal Revenue Service.
This time, the exercise was taken out of the state capital, Akure to other towns like Ondo, Bolorunduro and Ile-Oluji.
This followed a court order obtained to that effect at the Magistrate’s Court in August.
The enforcement team, which was led by the Assistant Director, State Counsel to the revenue agency, Oyetan Afuwape, shut two hotels, two sawmills among others, for failure to pay land use charge.
The head of the team said the business outlets failed to do the needful, despite receiving several notices.
He said government will continue to go after tax defaulters and other offenders.
Afuwape added that anyone who unseals the business outlets without government directive, risks 7-year jail term.
The revenue agency is expected to take enforcement to other local government areas in the days ahead
