The All Progressives Congress campaign in Oyo has kicked off in Oyo town by the party’s state chairman.
As campaign activities continue to gather momentum, the stage is all set for the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state as the party says it is ready to mobilise voters across the zones in the state.
The Oba Adeyemi Mini Stadium in Oyo town received thousands of supporters who came from across the 33 local governments of the state.
Top of the event was the official unveiling of the candidates vying for different positions ahead the elections.
The APC Governorship candidate lamented the state of education in the state and assured the people of quality representation at all levels.
Chairman of the party and Other key players Express happiness at the turnout and reception. They believe it is a sign of victory for the party.
The party’s victory chances also got a boost as it welcomed about 2000 defectors from the New Nigerian People’s Party.
The All Progressives Congress which was the ruling party in Oyo State since 2011 lost the 2019 general election to infighting occasioned by the emergence of its then governorship Adebayo Adelabu popularly known as Penkelemesi.
Some members of the allegedly teamed up with members of the opposition to ensure the party lost in the elections, the party’s leader, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, who was governor between 2011 and 2019 also died in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The party has also lostΒ a major rallying point in a former Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, who died suddenly in 2021, he had been seen and accepted as the party Leader following the death of Ajimobi.
The days ahead will determine whether the party members who now have as its arrow head a former Senate Leader, Teslim Kolawole Folarin, as the Governorship candidate have learnt their lessons from the 2019 debacle.
