Legal Practitioner and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Fred Nzeako, has described the current crisis within the ranks of the party as a family affair.
Fred Nzeako who was Speaking on the TVC News’s Breakfast show said the crisis is one that can be resolved as long as all the dramatis personae still remain a part of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He described Politics and the participants as people or groups who are engaged in a love affair.
He described the G-5 Governors led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his counterparts from Oyo, Seyi Makinde, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu, Samuel Ortom, Benue and Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State. as a serious group but described their decision to join up with some Others to create the Integrity group as nothing but a change of nomenclature.
He said Other factors that may have been responsible for the name change from G-5 to Integrity group is because all the Governors are in the Integrity Group but not all members of the Integrity group are in the G-5.
He said the Governors even if they have vowed never to support the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have not left the PDP and have said they will not leave.
He however pointed out the dilemma the Governors will face in standing by their decision not to support the party’s Presidential Candidate.
He said some of the Governors like Samuel Ortom of Benue State are contesting to be Senators in their wondering how they intend to Educate the electorate to vote for them as Senators while shunning the Presidential Candidate.
Going further, he added that a State where the Governor is going to work for his successor too might be tricky, asking if the Governor will be saying vote PDP and don’t vote PDP.
He described the main demand of the G-5 Governors and now the Integrity Group as impractical saying that if the National Chairman resigns as being demanded, the next person to take over by the Party’s constitution is the Deputy National Chairman, North.
According to him the only way the party will have a resolution on that score is for a new National Convention to be held where a new chairman will emerge.
