The cashless Policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria is still Generating Ripples across the Country with Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, accusing the Governor of the Bank, Godwin Emefiele, of punishing Politicians with the new measures especially on Withdrawal.
Dotun Oladipo, Publisher of Eagle Online, while reacting to the Governor of Adamawa State’s Statement on the issue said the issue though having generated a division as seen in the positions of the Adamawa State Governor and his Katsina State Counterpart that the policy is like a witch hunt against Politicians.
He said if the Politics that is played by Nigerians is not going to change in 2023 the decision taken by the Central Bank of Nigerian looks more like a witch hunt as it makes it difficult for Politicians to operate.
He said Politics in Nigeria involves the use of cash to get things done and that it is a well known fact that Politicians move a lot of cash around.
He said evidence abounds of people who have attended campaigns who have returned with huge sums of money to their bases and some even buying cars with it.
For his part, Adekunle Yusuf, said Nigerians need to stop listening to Politicians on some issues to ensure Nigeria really develops.
Going Further he said instances abound of People dropping Cash in Banks without identifying themselves and absconding after dropping huge sums of cash in their Strong rooms.
He commended the Central Bank of Nigeria for the decision to impose the cash withdrawal limit adding that it will help in curtailing inflation and make monetary Policies more effective.
He said the limit will not affect any individual since its just targeted at cash withdrawals and not people doing cashless transactions.
Dotun Oladipo, Publisher of Eagle Online, however said the issue most Nigerians are concerned about is the practicability of the decision especially as it affects the common man who need cash to get their day to day activities done.
Adekunle Yusuf however said a lot of Nigeria’s problems can be solved with the decision and its implementation by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
They however both agreed that the decision will affect the nations’ Economy, Politics and every Other things positively while advising the Central Bank of Nigeria to improve on services for agency banking and Point of Sales operators.
