The Ekiti State Governor has performed his first legislative function by signing the 2022 Supplementary bill into law.
The Speaker in her opening remark, Olubunmi Adelugba Says the disagreement in the House has been put to rest and Legislative Business has resumed.
She is of the opinion that the 2022 Supplementary Budget will address major issues across Infrastructure, Education, and Economic Challenges facing the People of Ekiti State, pledging the support of the house to the executive.
The Governor appreciates the effort of the House in resolving the dispute that almost crippled legislative duties, and reiterate his commitment to respect all arms of Government, urging the house to start work on the 2023 Appropriation bill.
Issues surrounding the 2022 Ekiti State Government Supplementary Appropriation Bill was responsible for the recent crisis that engulfed the State House of Assembly leading to the impeachment of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Gboyega Aribisogan, just 6 days after his swearing in as the State House of Assembly Speaker following the death of All Progressives Congress’s stalwart and former Speaker, Honourable Funminiyi Afuye.
He was replaced by Honourable Olubunmi Adelugba as Speaker while the deputy Speaker, Honourable Hakeem Jamiu, and Other principal officers remained in Office.
He has accused the Former Governor of Ekiti State Dr John Kayode Fayemi and some All Progressives Congress Stalwarts of being the brain behind his removal from office.
He is currently in court fighting his impeachment by 17 members of the State House of Assembly urging the Court to describe it as illegal, null and Void.
