The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on Muslim faithful in the state and across the country to perform their civic rights as the 2023 general election draws closer.
He made this call at the 68th Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, held in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Muslims have been informed that the duty of performing their civic rights goes beyond carrying out a task for themselves but to the Almighty Allah.
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun made this known while speaking at the 68th Annual convention of the Ahmaddiyya Muslim Jamaat.
He urged Muslims to ensure they get their Permanent Voter’s Card, noting that his administration since it came on board has been able to lower the political temperature in the state.
He affirmed that his government has also been able to promote inter-party tolerance and appealed to Muslims across the country not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs.
The Governor also commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for helping the country to shape young ones and guide the women in the society, noting that the group is very strong in inter-religious harmony and peace.
In his remarks, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Abdul-,Azeez Alatoye, commended the Governor for his love and passion for Muslims in the state and acknowledged him for his pledge towards the scholarship programme of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria.
The Annual convention provided members of the group with the opportunity of learning more about different areas of life, in relations to the dictate of the Almighty Allah and to refresh themselves spiritually.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress is facing a strong challenge to his second term ambition from the Peoples Democratic Party whose candidate is Oldipupo Adebutu and is from the same Iperu Remo as the Governor.
