Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi, has expressed his shock on the sudden and untimely death of the Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Chief Demola Seriki.
Mr Seriki passed on in the early hours of today (Thursday).
He said Seriki’s death at this time, when the party would have benefited from his wealth of experience to galvanise supports and votes for its candidates in the coming elections, was devastating and a great blow to the progressive family.
In a statement by his Director of Media and Communications, Omobola Akingbehin, the APC scribe said that Seriki, was highly respected and deeply loved by all who knew him while he was alive.
He regretted that the APC would miss the presence and influence of the envoy who was an amiable personality in his lifetime.
“As the party Chairman, I feel pained that one of our leaders left us when we needed him most.
” His death at this particularly moment in our polity is more devastating because he has left us with all his wisdom and expertise.
The Chairman prayed for the repose his soul and beseech God to grant the family and the party he left behind, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Seriki, the Lagos socialite fondly called “America Kokoye” by his admirers, died peacefully in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday, 15 December, 2022.
He was until his death, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain since January 2021, with concurrent accreditation as the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations World Tourism Organization-UNWTO.
