it is 56 days to the 2023 general election and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu is
proving why he is the front runner and the candidate to beat in the next year’s presidential poll.
Excerpts from his luncheon with business owners in Lagos tagged a business forward are still making headlines and top of the of the issue on the lips of Nigerians days after the event.
Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his campaign team were in Lagos to meet with young business owners, entrepreneurs from the creative agriculture, Health fintech, oil and gas, telecommunications sectors and a host of others.
The objective was to hear firsthand from The Young experts and understand their challenges, proffer short, medium and long-term solutions when he is elected president.
Conveners of the event believe this platform gives the APC flag
bearer an opportunity to further discuss the practicality of his Manifesto ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Nigeria’s economy has been challenged just like every other across the globe, the message from the APC candidate is straight, with the right team and cooperation from all concerned parties, Nigeria will surmount all these challenges .
Lawyer/APC Member, Oluwaseun Faleye said on TVCBreakfast that the essence of the meeting with these young business owners, entrepreneurs by the Presidential flagbearer was achieved.
Mr Falaye noted that the essence was to bring the business community which is the engine of economic growth with the presidential candidate. It was more or less a listening event.
“We recognise that most businesses believe that government or politicians do not truly engage with them to understand where the pain is and where the difficulties are before crafting policies,” he said.
“As a party, we believe that the action plan for the candidate for the party is robust and detailed enough to address the major issues that we face, we also accept that obviously, there might not be exhaustive solutions to all of those issues, and it’s always very imperative to take what it would take to drive those sectors forward and get their feedback from some of the action plans that we put forward.
Mr Faleye stated that from the event, going forward, what he expects to see going forward is a policy collaboration between business and politics, between the private sector and the public sector.
The most important thing in formulating policies is sector feedback and feedback from stakeholders generally, where you understand where their main issues are, and then use those understanding or that understanding to then formulate policies to let them thrive.
Speaking on security which is a major concern of business owners, Mr Faleye said there is a consensus amongst everybody that without adequate security, businesses cannot thrive.
According to Asiwaju at the event, he said he is going to bolster our security forces in a manner that realise or take cognisance of our population.
He has reiterated it at that meeting and also referred to it in his manifesto that our law enforcement approaches will be enhanced through manpower, investment in weapons and weaponry and all of those sophisticated weaponry that is required.
The effect of these economic decisions, as in regards to enhancing our economic opportunities will have a major impact on our security dynamics which is very key from what we have on ground in terms of planning.
Me Faleye further speaking said the issue of power which is very key and central to businesses, will be structured in such a way that issues of estimated billings will no longer arise as people will now pay for what is consumed.
According to Asiwaju’s manifesto, there will be continual investments in the strengthening of our distribution and transmission networks that would be continued and increased under his leadership.
Looking at some of the work that this government has done under the National Assets Makeup providing scheme, it’s really speaking to that.
Mr Faleye added that If the right policies and frameworks are put in place, we will be creating real opportunities for people to invest, take opportunities and positions, and, provide power for millions of Nigerians.
“Power, is critical to business enhancement, and that will remain a priority on that.
Mr Faleye noted that the APC Presidential lead bearer has declared that his administration will provide an uniform exchange rate, which has become a headache for many company owners which is transparent, adds value, and is true to type.
Mr Faleye who spoke on other issues including fuel subsidy said the Asiwaju led administration will formulate policies and frameworks to ensure major issues affecting the average Nigerian is addressed.
