As Nigeria looks to benefit from the high demand in gas production across the world, representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL joined other foreign expatriates for the groundbreaking ceremony of an indigenous gas processing, an embedded power plant in the Adagbabri community of Bayelsa State.
This year’s vote by the European Union to keep natural gas considered low carbon emission as a transition fuel towards cleaner environment has sparked keen interest from petroleum exporting countries across the globe.

Nigeria boasts in the largest amount of natural gas reserves in Africa has proven gas deposits totaling up to 208.62 trillion cubic feet based on recent data from the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission.
With Bayelsa State preserving over 20 percent of that figure having about 18 trillion cubic feet of gas reserve, representatives from some relevant federal agencies and foreign export rates are in Sagbama for the groundbreaking ceremony of an indigenous gas processing plants in the states.
Rep. MD, NNPC Gas marketing Limited, Haruna Abdulrahman stated at the ground breaking that if there is energy, and it is accessible, it should be affordable, acceptable and available.
The Obodofei gas processing plant is set to benefit thousands of Bayelsans both in employment opportunities and provision of sustainable energy for the people.
With the timeline for completion sets to be revealed in a few weeks, more investors are expected to key into the project.
