Over five thousand secondary school teachers in Katsina state have declared their support for All Progressives Congress, Gubernatorial candidate Dikko Umar Radda and the Asiwaju-Shettima ticket.
The teachers are convinced that the educational policies introduced under the current dispensation have strongly elevated the status of education in the state and need to be sustained
The event presents the moment for a strong review of the current situation by the teachers on the future of education, and how it should affects their political choices.
Teachers in the past were not known to active participation in partisan politics but the turn of events has compelled the teachers to take a stand.
This rally is organised by some teacher’s unions for the purpose of announcing to the public that teachers will remain in the background despite their population and position in society.
The rally was attended by the APC gubernatorial candidate Dikko Radda who promised to bring effective educational reforms if elected.
Speakers expressed concern about the state and the need to elect a leader that truly understands what needs to be done to address factors affecting the education system.
Whoever emerges Governor in 2023 has his work cut out with issues like out-of-school children, teacher recruitment and school infrastructural development needing to be speedily addressed.
The All Progressives Congress is Seeking to retain power in Katsina State which is the home State of President Muhammadu Buhari after 8 years of the current governor and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Bello Masari.
The party is also seeking to retain the Presidency through Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his running mate in the 2023 Presidential Election and the backing by the Secondary School Teachers is another boost to the aspiration.
The Elections will hold on the 25th of February 2023.
