The United Nations Women, in Collaboration with Women in Management, Business and Public Service, have held a roundtable dialogue with 25 Female Gubernatorial Candidates in Abuja.
The Purpose of the meeting is to identify areas of challenges affecting the female gubernatorial candidates and offer support to encourage women Political Participation.
According to INEC’s Statistics, there are currently about 93million registered voters out of which 50.8 million of this number are women .
25 Female candidates are currently on the ballot across various political parties contesting for the office of governor in different states across the Country.
The United Nations Women in Collaboration with WIMBIZ , a support system that promotes the rights of women in management, business and public service, considers it necessary to host this dialogue.
The discussions here are aimed at identifying the areas of strength and weakness of Female candidates with an intention to offer support.
The Female Gubernatorial candidates are confident that with this kind of support from women groups , they can surmount all challenges and emerge Victorious in the 2023 Polls .
The UN WOMEN and WIMBIZ say they are willing to partner with the government, civil society and other relevant institutions to ensure women attain leadership positions in the country and also get a favourable outcome in next year’s General Elections.
