Director of Media and Publicity, Tinubu/Shettima, ICC, Hilliard Etta says a lot of pundits are of the opinion that there is going to be a runoff in the 2023 election.
According to him, he does not share in that sentiment because he is confident that the APC Presidential candidate Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is going to win at first ballot.
While noting that the February 25th election will be keenly contested, added that, whoever wins becomes the leader of the black race in the world, hence it has to be keenly contested.
He said It would have been a travesty if the presidency of Nigeria was not keenly contested for as there has never been any time from 1999 till now that the presidency of Nigeria was not been keenly contested for.
Mr Etta added that the APC has the variables to give it victory whereas other parties are talking about something else.
” The PDP talks about the fact that they expect our governors to betray us, and that is their path to victory. I think that is very unrealistic. It cannot be done. It is a wishful thinking. It is infantile.
“On the other hand, the Labor Party believes that they have in their pocket the entire youth of Nigeria, the youthful population of Nigeria are all in the corner of the Labor Party. It is not also true. We have a realistic path to victory.
“We have mobilised all our structures across the nation which is very formidable. 22 governors, array of senators, house of Representative members, house of assembly members, chairman of Council, councilors we have mobilised all of them across the nation.
The Director of Media and Publicity, Tinubu/Shettima, ICC added that of all the party’s contesting the election, the APC is the only one who has its acts together.
He noted that as a party populated by people, there is no way you can run away from frictions and disagreements but the party has been in a good position to douse attention and deal with flash points. Generally, we have a very United and committed party.
“The situation in the APC gives us hope”.
“Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very popular in the grassroots and the reason is because he is seen as a rewarder of loyalty and hard work.
“The grassroot people believe that if Asiwaju is given the support, he will transform the country.
Mr Etta, who noted that Nigeria is set to break out, added that what the country needs at this time is a leader who knows Nigeria’s current situation and what has to be done to create an environment in which Nigeria can break out and assume its rightful place in the committee of nations.
Asiwaju has been identified as the type of leader who will spark the type of advancement and development that the country requires at this time.
