Ekiti state governor, Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji has commenced dredging of major communities that are prone to flooding in some local government areas in the state.
The affected LGAs are: Ado, Ikere, Oye, Moba, Emure, Efon, Ekiti South west, Gbonyin, Ise Orun, Ido Osi, Ikole and Ekiti West . The exercise took off in Orere community behind Obasanjo Estate along Ikere road ,Ado Ekiti.
The move is in a bid to prevent flood disaster in the next rainy season in the state.
Mr Governor said instead of running around for relief materials and paying sympathy visit to victims of flood disaster during rainy season , the disaster itself should be prevented from happening.
