Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma says despite the many challenges of insecurity made to frustrate and cripple his government, it has made laudable achievements in the year 2022.
Delivering his New year message in a statewide broadcast, the Governor said he is optimistic of a better new year.
While reminding Imo residents that the new year is an election year, the governor urged them to be peaceful during, after and before the elections.
“For surviving the new year, We should also pause for a minute to appreciate and praise God for his abundant mercy and grace upon our lives.
“On the part of government, We are thankful that in-spite of the most challenge of insecurity, we were able to accomplish our objectives in governance.
“We were also able to get the federal government to upgrade the Federal Medical Center over to University Hospital for use at Federal University of Technology. These developments come with abandoned employment opportunities for our children.” Uzodinma said.
Weeks ago, the Governor had expressed optimism on the growing of Imo State economic strength especially with the revitalisation of moribund State commercial institutions and the establishment of new industrial facilities to match-up the global growth with a diversified economy.
Hope Uzodinma who spoke during the ceremony after the commissioning of the Shared Facility Fashion Hub by Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the consideration of this partnership with the Imo State Government in provision of the SME center that would offer more job creation for Ndi Imo.
He also announced the recovery of Imo Shoe Factory from the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) having settled defaulting fee which had held the industry from operating all these while.
