The incident according to a Press Statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman Voter Education and Information committee, Festus Okoye, occurred around 9.12pm on Sunday, 15th January 2023.
According to him the security gatehouse was razed but the attackers could not gain access to the main building as a result of the rapid response from the Police and Army personnel from 82 Division.
The State Commissioner of Police and the REC were also personally at the scene immediately they received information about the attack.
A policeman died as a result of the attack while the Other who was also securing the facility sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed Hospital.
The Commission in the Statement prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased policeman and the speedy recovery of the injured.
The attack according to Mr Okoye is being investigated by the security agencies.
