As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the Nigerian police partner to ensure the success of the general elections there are assurances that the votes of ordinary Nigerians will be protected.
Both sides made their reaffirmation at the conference in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
Representatives from the Independent National electoral commission and other key political players in the states agreed on a partnership to a seamless elections next month and beyond.
Politicians were also advised to eschew violence while police officers were advised to conduct themselves professionally during the
elections.
Security Relations Consultant, Bosinde Araikpe speaking to journalist said the INEC rep has been able to reiterate the fact that the police responsibility has been spelled clear to them and also warned of the impending danger should anything go contrary.
He added that if Nigeria is going to have a free and fair election, the police and Nigerians have to be law abiding.
With continuous consultations with critical security agencies, INEC and political parties, the non-governmental organisation believes a
free and fair election is achievable at the forth coming election.
