The national agency for food and drug administration and control, NAFDAC has unveiled the agency’s strategic plans to curb spurious, counterfeit and unwholesome products in the country within the next five years.
Director General of NAFDAC Mojisola Adeyeye disclosed that the agency will among other things work towards attaining the world health organization’s maturity level four and world listed authority status to enable global trade of Nigerian made pharmaceuticals.
This is the first meeting by the director general of the national agency for food and drug administration and control, Mojisola Adeyeye after her reappointment by president Muhammed Buhari for a second five year tenure last week.
It is also the first meeting in the new year and without hesitation, she extends her gratitude to the president for a second opportunity and also global partners for their support in the feat achieved in the past years.
Professor Adeyeye took time to reel out plans towards taming the influx of counterfeit and adulterated products across the country
She revealed that the agency will not sit on its oars as it plans to go out to ensure that the country is cleansed of unwholesome and counterfeit products
In moving forward, the agency seeks to continue making impact in the coming years through a number of strategic goals
It is evident that a lot has been achieved under the leadership of the director general in the past years and the agency believes that with more hard work a lot more achievement will be recorded within the next five years.
Adeyeye noted that the track and trace system would be smoothened within the five years strategic plan for better and effective operations.
She added that the agency has shouldered the responsibilities of overseeing the manufacturing and distribution of quality medicines through the adoption of bar-coding.
