Farmers in parts of Northern Nigeria are getting inputs, earth dams and land clearing support to boost their agricultural output.
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority NALDA, which master minded the support expects it to enhance agricultural productivity in the benefitting states towards enhancing food security in Nigeria.
A piece of land in the Azare community in Bauchi, has been cleared towards the creation of an earth dam within this community for the benefit of local farmers.
The facility is to meet the water needs of ten thousand livestock while providing irrigation for three villages.
A solar powered pumping machine would aid the waters distribution to target beneficiaries.
The Earth Dam when completed in a fortnight, would cater for the water needs of over 10,000 Animals and Irrigation in over 3 villages in the area as NALDA would provide Solar powered pumping machines that will pump the water to farms around
This is the first time locals in this community would be such support for agriculture and it means a lot to them.
The community has also received cow and Goat Pens in Azare, to be fully equipped with solar powered boreholes, veterinary services, access roads and grass fields for the production of feeds for the Animals.
NALDA is working to give more of these kinds of support to.other agrarian communities in parts of the country.
It hopes the establishment of the Cow and Goat Pens would limit cattle movements in benefitting areas thereby curbing farmers/herders clashes.
