The president of the Nigerian Bar Association Yakubu Maikyau has apologized to Nigerians for the abdication of their role.
He noted that members of the Bar, are reputed more for how much fees they charge their clients as opposed to the discharge of their primary call which is to offer guidance for the advancement of the cause of the country.
This apology, Mr Maikyau says, has become necessary because, no other group of professionals other than lawyers, are called to this privileged position.

Court Dismisses Former presidential candidate’s suit seeking Buhari’s removal from office.
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja has dismissed a suit by a former presidential candidate of Hope Democratic Party, HDP Ambrose Owuru, against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election.
The suit which sought the removal of President Buhari was dismissed by the Court on three major grounds which include that the suit constituted a gross abuse of court process, it was statute barred and was an affront to the Supremacy of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Justice Ekwo also held that the suit was baseless, frivolous, and vexatious in its entirety.
The plaintiff, Mr Owuru had in the suit applied for an order of the court to declare the presidential seat vacant and swear him in as the authentic winner of that election.
NASENI – LAUNCHES SKILLS ACQUISITION AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) says it is set to partner with the Borno State Government to fastrack its poverty alleviation plan and ensure full restoration of socio-economic activities in areas affected by Insurgency.
Chief Executive of the agency, Professor Sani Mohammad Haruna stated this during the launch of its Skill Acquisition Training and Youth Empowerment Programme in Maiduguri.
It’s the second visit of the chief executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure to Borno this year.
The agency was here on the 13th of January 2023 to meet with the state governor Babagana Zulum to intimate him on their plans to revamp the state with technical support.
Now, it is flagging off a training and empowerment programme for about 100 youths in the state.
The training would focus on modern methods of vulcanizing and capacity building on the use of other modern equipments.
The agency would also distribute 500 units of efficient smoke-free stoves to IDPs, in an effort to mitigate climate change.
The state government lauds NASENI for this gesture.
NASENI is also collaborating with the state government to establish a mobile science technical school in affected communities in the state.
