In an effort to enhance security services in combating criminal activities in Borno , the North East Development Commission NEDC has started training private security organizations in the state.
About twenty registered private security outfits would participate in the programme.

The training programme is aimed at enhancing their ability to actively participate in crime prevention and maintenance of peace in the society.
Participants here would also be trained in areas of deradicalization and reintegration of repentant insurgents now that they have begun to surrender in large number.
The training aims to create a network where private security companies in the state may exchange information and collaborate to enhance security.
Aspects of intelligence gathering will also be covered, and cooperation between organizations, security and law enforcement authorities, as well as the community.
Aside providing humanitarian support and empowerment programme, NEDC also has the mandate of supporting activities that would promote peace and development of the region.
The three-day training has its theme, the role of informal security operatives in combating insecurity in the North East region.
ANGLICAN BISHOP CHARGES NIGERIANS ON UNITY
The Anglican Bishop Saint Michael’s Cathedral in Kaduna State is calling on all Nigerians to disregard messages of division and instead embrace messages of unity.
Reverend Timothy Yahaya says he is praying for what he describes as a ‘national rebirth’ adding that only unity will move the nation forward.
Addressing other national Issues, Bishop Yahaya criticized those attacking INEC facilities. He further Posited that the best way for Nigeria is to stick to the tenets and good practice of democracy.
On the general elections coming up next month, the Kaduna based Anglican cleric discouraged politicians from vote buying and the electorate from selling their votes.
According to him “Dialogue is the way to go for a peaceful coexistence. The power of gun is limited and that of reasoning is unlimited, may God heal our land and give us God fearing leaders in this election year 2023”.
” What Nigeria needs now is credible candidates who fears God and that will not play a donor die politics or politics of sentiments or regionality.
“Those burning down INEC offices are distractors of our democracy who wants to pull the nation down because burning INEC offices will not fix the nation”
