Reactions have continued to trail the rejection of Local government, Judicial and parliamentary autonomy bills by the Imo State House of Assembly in the ongoing constitution amendment.
The latest is coming from the people’s democratic party lawmakers who distanced themselves from the decision of APC controlled Imo State House of Assembly describing it as anti-democratic.
Earlier, the Spokesperson of Coalition of United Political parties Ikenga Ugochinyere, has flayed the lawmakers for the decision which he said did not reflect the mind of the people of Imo State.
SDP INAUGURATES CAMPAIGN OFFICE IN ABEOKUTA
The Social Democratic Party has flagged off its Presidential and Governorship campaigns in Ogun state with the promise of providing good governance and socio-economic development in the country.
The Presidential Candidate of the party, Adewole Adebayo who led other leaders and candidates of the party to the state also used the occasion to inaugurate the party’s office at Abiola Way, Abeokuta.
He said Nigerians need to look inward and vote for a party that provides the alternative option with quality and competent people, adding that the two major political parties in Nigeria have nothing new to offer the citizens.
He said the party is the hope of Nigerians and they should him and other candidates of the party in order to have a change from the current situation in the country.
INEC, POLICE CALL ON PARTIES TO SHUN VIOLENCE, ADVOCATE FOR PVC COLLECTION
The Independent National Electoral Commission, Inec has appealed to political parties to join the commission in advocating collection of permanent voter cards ahead of the general elections.
This is just as the Commission and the State Police Command organized a stakeholders meeting with political parties to stem the tide of attacks witnessed in the State in the last few weeks.
Over 405,000 PVCs are still uncollected in Osun State.
The State resident Electoral Commissioner is making a lot of efforts to simplify the collection process.
Some political attacks including destruction of billboards were recorded in the last few weeks in the State.
The Commission organized this stakeholders meeting in Osogbo where political parties are represented.
The State Police Commissioner vowed not to take it lightly with any one caught disturbing public Peace.
Doctor Mutiu Agboke was also at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi to seek his support.
The Commission promised not jeopardize the confidence reposed in it.
