Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu say some kidnapped victims at the Igueben train station have been rescued by the security agencies..
The deputy governor, Philip Shaibu in Company of the Edo State Commissioner of Police and other Security Personnel visited the train Station for an on the spot assessment.
Speaking to journalist, the deputy governor revealed that the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has instructed that all relevant state security apparatus be moved to the spot until they secure the safe release of the kidnapped victims.
Recall that an unidentified gunmen have stormed the train station at about 4pm on Saturday shooting Sporadically and kidnapped unspecified number of passengers waiting to board the train to Warri in Delta State.
ABDUCTORS CONTACT FAMILIES OF TRAIN ATTACK VICTIMS
The police in Edo state have revealed that the gun men who invaded the train station in Edo state on Saturday have started making contacts with families of some of the kidnapped victims.
During an exclusive chat this morning with the Command’s Public relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, he disclosed to that the family of one of the kidnapped victims were at the police station to report that the kidnappers contacted them to pick up some of their relatives that were earlier kidnapped.
He stated that though, on getting to the said place and waiting for several hours the family members did not receive their loved ones as agreed by the kidnappers
However the state police commissioner, CP Mohamed Dankwara in company of other security agencies are on their way to the scene of the incident.
HOW IT UNFOLDED ON SATURDAY
Unspecified number of passengers have been kidnapped by suspected armed gunmen who attacked the train station at Igueben in Edo State.
The Edo state police command confirmed that the gunmen who were armed with AK-47 rifles stormed the train station at about 4pm on Saturday 7th January shooting sporadically and kidnapped unspecified number of passengers who were waiting to board the train to warri..
The Edo state police Command say the Area Commander Irrua, the DPO of Igueben Division, and other men of the police have visited the scene of crime with members of Edo State Security Network, local vigilante, and hunters with a view to protect the lives and property of the remaining passengers.
According to the police, Bush Combing operations have commenced in order to rescue the victims and arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
