The development followed recent incidents of extrajudicial killing of two Nigerians, most recently, a Lagos-based female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, who was allegedly shot dead on Christmas day by ASP Drambi Vandi.

He added that when the NBA visited the commissioner of police the next day, 26th of December, the CP told them of his plan to change all the officers, and a few days after, the the plan was perfected and in the in the coming days this should have materialised fully.
Hundeyin stated that this was done to boost professionalism because there had been complaints that many of these cops had overstayed and had created a kind of bond with some of the bad guys in the area.
He noted that apart from boosting professionalism, the transfer was also part of measures to instill discipline.
