The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria has inducted 60 newly qualified doctors at the Benjamin Carson (Snr.) School of Medicine at the Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, into the profession.
It’s the 7th medical induction of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo in Ogun State.
The event served as another platform to remind the inductees of their responsibility to their patients.
The Vice Chancellor and President of Babcock University, Professor Tayo Ademola in his address, spoke about the need for effective leadership.
Professor Ademola admonished the inductees to provide solutions to societal challenges and implored them not to emigrate.
Joe-Ikechebelu Blessing, who emerged as the overall best student, spoke about her experience.
The school management implored the inductees to build their future success on a foundation of integrity, good character, hard work, and a compassionate lifestyle.
NASENI TRAINS 100 YOUTH IN OGU FOR INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
A total of One hundred youth have benefitted from the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) skill acquisition training and empowerment programme in Ogun State.
The training was on modern methods of Electrical Installations and Maintenance.
These are beneficiaries of NASENI skill acquisition training and empowerment programme selected from different parts of the state.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the body Muhammad Haruna who was represented at the event said the skill development programme was designed to breed competent workforce and to train the youth with modern skills that can prepare them for opportunities in their environment.
He commended the Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Solomon Adeola, his colleagues at the 9th Senate and President Muhammadu Buhari for their support for the return of NASENI to the Presidency.
Stakeholders at the event commended the initiative and appealed to NASENI to continue to expand the scope of the training for the benefit of many unemployed Nigerians youths.
They urged beneficiaries to make positive use of the training and the tools provided for them.
The National Vice President of Licenced Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria, Yinka Akintomide and a representative of the beneficiary said they are enjoying such priviledge for the first time and commended the federal Government for the initiative.
Presidential Amnesty Programme Interim Administrator Meets Niger Delta Traditional Rulers
Traditional Rulers in the Niger Delta Region have expressed support for the review and sanitisation of the Presidential Amnesty Programme by Interim Administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu, retired.

The Presidential Amnesty Programme has arguably after 13 years not fully achieved its objectives especially in the area of rehabilitation and reintegration phase.
The programme has been characterised with ghost beneficiaries, huge debt burden, mismanagement, incessant protests, unemployment among others.

General Elections : FG orders Closure of All Polytechnics.
The Federal government has again ordered the closure of all polytechnics in the country until after the general elections.
The directive is coming a few days after the federal government issue a similar directive for the closure of all universities in the county.
There are concerns about Students and staff security during the presidential and National Assembly elections and the gubernatorial and state assemblies
It has prompted the federal government to order the closure of all universities, inter-Universities and inter-university centers across the nation from February 22nd to March 2023.
Acting on a directive of the minister of education, the national universities commission in a circular conveyed to all the vice-chancellors of all universities and directors and chief executives of inter University centres, urged all the universities to vacate during the election period.
Less than a week later, it has now also directed all polytechnics in the country to shut down until after the forthcoming general elections.
In line with the directive, all academic activities in the schools will be suspended between Wednesday, the 22nd of February to March 14th, 2023.
The house of representatives had called on the ministry of education and its regulatory agencies to order all tertiary institutions to suspend academic activities till after the general elections to ensure no student is disenfranchised.
The 2023 general elections is scheduled to hold on Saturday 25th February 2023 for the Presidential and National Assembly, and on Saturday 11th March, 2023 for Gubernatorial and State house of Assembly respectively.
