Taraba state government in collaboration with the North East Development Commission has commenced training for the second phase of educationists in the State on capacity building.
These include:300 teachers, Principals, Vice principals and staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board across the 16 local governments of the state.
Taraba State has been leading in WASC and NECO examinations in the notheast in the last five years.
The feat recorded in the education sector was as a result of the Darius Ishaku administration’s efforts.
In this hall are educationists mobilised by the North East Development Commission.
The commission in partnership with VSN Integrated service assisted the state government in training the educationists to boost efficiency in education sector.
The lead consultant of VSN Integrated service, Hassana Ahmed, explained that the curriculum is in tandem with latest innovations in the education sector.
Representative of the Chairman of the North East Development Commission Education Endowment Fund, David Sabo Kente, noted that the exercise would also benefit the participants in the area of basic skills.
Governor Darius Ishaku said his administration is determined to partner with any organisation that will improve the education in the state.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Fred Zaku, Ishaku, the governor commended the Commission for the initiative, noting that it would benefit both teachers and students.
Aside the fact that Taraba State is leading in pass rate in NECO and WASC exams in the north east, the Taraba state university is now rated by the NUC among the best 20 Varsities in Nigeria.
PDP YOUTHS TO PROVIDE INTERNET CONNECTIVITY ACROSS THE STATE
The Youth Wing of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has launched free Internet connectivity ahead of the coming general elections in the the state.
The connections will be situated at strategic areas in the state.
This, they say, will guard against manipulations and ensure over 200,000 persons have access to internet within the areas of coverage during the presidential and gubernatorial exercises.
Data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission indicates that the youth population constitutes the greatest number of registered voters in the 2023 general election with over 75milion.
The elections would be technology-driven in line with current Electoral Act 2022 which duly incorporates the use of technology in the process.
The Peoples Democratic Party Youths are working round the clock to make the election rancour-free hence launching of the free WiFi.
This they said will enable the masses to closely monitor the elections online and have factual information on the progress of the polls in various locations.
PDP stakeholders in the state believe that the free connectivity will form the catalyst for an informed and educated society.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate who lauded the initiative said that the internet facilities will also keep the youths busy as well as acquaint them with new information technology.
It is expected that more than 200, 000 persons will benefit from the internet connectivity, to be accessed in 36 locations at different points in Taraba State.
