The chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association women’s forum, Chinyere Okorocha, has advised women and female lawyers that to meet the challenges of the changing world they must position themselves to take up the opportunities that digital technology and innovation present.
She made this statement at the N.B.A.W.F 3rd general conference, while also commemorating international women’s day.
The annual general conference has become a platform to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of Nigerian female lawyers.
It is also an avenue to raise awareness about the challenges women continue to face at the bar and in their various careers.
Women have made significant contributions to the legal profession but still face challenges like gender inequality, discrimination and lack of representation in leadership positions and certain other areas of the legal profession.
This year’s conference seeks to explore how technology can enhance the capacity and competitiveness of women in the legal profession.
It will also address ways to promote women’s access to justice and support women’s rights in the digital age.
Online experience and opportunities are crucial for women to advance both their careers and family life in achieving a work-life balance and overcoming the many hurdles that prevent them from getting to the peak of their careers.
