The Zamfara State Governor-elect Dauda Lawal has constituted a 60-member Transition Committee as he prepares to assume office, come may this year.
A statement signed by Sulaiman Bala Idris, head of Dauda Lawal media Centre says the committee will liase with the outgoing administration of Governor, Bello Matawalle ahead of the May 29th swearing-in of a new government in the state.
The statement adds that the committee is made up of technocrats, present and retired public office holders, as well as professionals and experts from different fields
The committee is also expected to engage Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and review the finances of the outgoing government with a focus on receipts, assets, and liabilities, among others
Some of the key task of the committee is to develop a clear framework of liaison and establish channels of formal Communication with the outgoing administration’s Committee for a smooth transition
Former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar is to Chair the Committee, while Dr. Hamza Mohammed serve as the Secretary
Other are the former Head of Service Zamfara State, Mujitaba Isah Gusau; Col. Bala Mande (Rtd.); Prof. Abubakar Aliyu Liman; Barr. Nura Ibrahim Zarumi; Barr. Bello Galadi, fmr. NBA Chairman Zamfara State, among others.
A date for the inauguration of the Committee according to the statement will be announced in due course
Zamfara State Government had earlier constituted a forty one man transition Committee headed by a former Finance Minister, Bashir Yuguda and is also yet to be Inaugurated
There will be change of Government from the ruling APC to the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Zamfara following the victory of Dauda Lawal during the March 18th Governorship election.
Dauda Lawal defeated the Incumbent Governor, Bello Matawalle which is the second time an opposition party unseat a serving Governor in Zamfara state.
