The Commonwealth Youth and Student Summit, CYSS, African Region, has come to an end after a 3-day intensive plenary session.
At the closing ceremony in Abuja, Nigeria’s President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared his commitment to working closely with the youth in his administration.
The Youth from the African countries in the Commonwealth of Nations, engaged on various topical issues, ranging from economy, gender-based violence, digital development, and job creation.
They came up with a communique, making demands of African leaders on participatory governance, access to finance and global partnership.
The minister of youth and sports development Sunday Dare and the representative of the president-elect shared their reaction to the outcome of the summit, pledging their support for youth development.
Other leaders present at the event as well as the youth and students were optimistic about the productivity of the summit.
More than 300 youths from 21 commonwealth member nations attended the event organised in celebration of the year of the youth.
The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in partnership with the Bank of Industry initiated a 60-day app challenge and successful participants were honoured with various gifts.
