Nigeria is hosting a conference in Abuja aimed at promoting transparency among Africans in the development of Ballistic Missiles.
The Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation is meant to curb the proliferation of ballistic missiles capable of delivering Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Diplomats, Military Officers, Security Experts and Policy makers from 30 African countries converge on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abuja to discuss how to deal with proliferation of ballistic missiles.
30 countries, worldwide, have active Ballistic Missile programmes.
In Africa, only Egypt has operational ballistic capabilities.
But the concerns are that without control, ballistic missiles can be used to deliver Weapons of Mass Destruction.
All the more worrying is the likelihood of ballistic missiles falling into the wrong hands.
With the activities of terror groups such as ISWAP and its affiliates in Africa, conferences like this may just be coming at the right time.
