The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa says she is advocating for a special category of National Awards for Nigerians in the Diaspora who have contributed tremendously to National Development.
She disclosed this on the awards night of the National Diaspora Day at the State House in Abuja.
Despite a handful of negative reports about Nigerians outside the shores of the country, most reports about Nigerians in Disapora have been excellent.
Nigerians breaking the ceiling and setting new bars in different fields of endeavour.
Nigeria has enjoyed some goodwill because of these worthy Ambassadors which has in turn propelled National development.
More importantly there has been some “brain gain” as many of those who travelled out to hone their skills have thought it wise to give back to the country.
It is only befitting that these pace setters and patriotic Nigerians should be recognised as has been undertaken by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
Awards were given in different categories from Education to health, IT, Entertainment, Leadership and pure innovation.
21 individuals were recognised and awarded alongside 4 other corporate associations, making a total of 25 awards
It was an eventful evening for all returning Nigerians with this recognition ceremony rekindling in them, a sense of pride, accomplishment and patriotism.
