In a world where technology has taken over many aspects of human life, a non governmental organisation is asking all stakeholders to pay maximum attention to children and youths on their active use of the internet.
They say it is important for them to learn how to make the best use of their time by focusing on things that will impact them positively.
Zainab Akande has more in this report.
This is an interactive training session with children, teenagers and youths within the ages of 9-21 brought together by a non governmental organization to learn about ethics and principles needed to live a life free of vices.
The theme of the event titled “chosen to influence” emphasised the need to groom young ones to become impactful leaders making reference to successful persons worthy of emulation.
Smart phones, tablets and computers have been identified as tools promoting the negative influence of technology on the behavior of children and young adults who have access to them.
From religious leaders to digital experts and educationists, each had a role to play in enlightening the participants to make a life out of social media and the contribution of the government in ensuring an enabling environment for learning.
Organisers of the event did not limit the training to the children and youths, they also enlightened their parents on the importance of making time for their wards.
Even though technology has many side opportunities, this venture is to ensure that the young minds are able to sieve out the negatives and stick with the positives.
