The camp of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ondo state has received a major boost following the defection of 203 Peoples Democratic Party Councilors.
The state chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin said the defection signals the end of the major opposition party in the state.
It was a carnival-like atmosphere when the two hundred and three former councilors, who served in the government of former Governor Olusegun Agagu, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Ondo state.
They were welcome into the party by the APC Chairman in the state, Ade Adetimehin and some members of the State Working Committee.
Among the defectors are Vice Chairmen of local councils and PDP stalwarts.
Adetimehin said their defection marks the end of major opposition party in the state.
He assured the new members that they will not regret their action.
He promised them equal representation, a position a chieftain of the party, Olumuyiwa Adu described as a welcome development.
The leader of the defectors explained why they joined the APC.
This harvest of defectors is another boost for the ruling APC ahead of future elections in the state.
