The Federal Government has been advised to involve the youths in it’s attempt at addressing adolescent and youth health.
This call was made at a youth engagement on adolescent health with the theme, achieving 2030 targets, driving innovation for adolescent and youths.
Young people are said to constitute about a third of Nigeria’s population, but they face considerable health and development challenges such as high rates of unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases amongst others.
in 2007,the National Policy on the Health and Development of Adolescent and Young People in Nigeria, sought to promote the optimal health and development of young people between the ages of 10 and 24 Year old.
Some of The key areas of intervention of this policy were sexual reproductive health and rights, nutrition, accidents and violence, mental health, substance abuse, education just to mention a few.
At this conference, young Nigerians are charting a way forward in addressing this crisis.
With the theme, achieving 2030 targets, driving innovation for adolescent and youths, these young persons believe that leveraging on their abilities will ensure proper solutions.
Embracing innovations to solving the health problems of youths and adolescent is part of solutions raised here.
The youths believe this is critical if government wants to hit this target by 2030.
