The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB says it has launched an investigation on the accident involving a Jabiru J430 light plane that crashed in the Ikeja area of Lagos state on Tuesday.
The light plane with registration number 5N-CCQ.crashed and burst into flames while on a test flight after 1500 (1400hrs GMT).
The Air First Hospitality & Tours-operated plane, which had two people on board when it crashed near Oba Akran, a bustling district of Lagos, according to the bureau. None of the participants died.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos state spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, verified that two people on board were recovered alive.
On Tuesday evening, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the crash site in Ikeja and commended the first responders and locals who assisted in the rescue attempt.
